North End Gallery Learn & Share Series
The Town of Leonardtown and North End Gallery have partnered to present a series of informative and dynamic art classes for the Leonardtown Learn & Share online platform. The North End Gallery Learn & Share Series, funded in part by the St. Mary’s County Arts Council, offers FREE art classes taught by gallery members. Example classes include oil painting, watercolor, pastels, pottery, mosaics and more. Learn tips and techniques from talented North End Gallery Artists. View the classes below. OIL PAINTING WITH POLLY LANGE: STILL LIFE
Premiered: Monday, April 5th at 11:00 a.m.
The North End Gallery Learn & Share series premieres on Monday, April 5, 2021 with a Still Life Oil Painting Class taught by Gallery Member, Polly Lange. Polly has been a member of North End Gallery since 2014 and offers over 15 years experience. Polly currently paints with oils, although she has experience in pen-and-ink, watercolor, pastel and collage media. Her focus is on still life and landscape art.
In her Oil Painting classes for the North End Gallery Learn & Share Series, Polly plans to provide the basics of painting with oils while performing a complete demonstration, from start to finish. “The creative process of painting provides a wonderful dimension to my life and I recommend it to anyone!”, says Polly. Polly's first class, Oil Painting with Polly Lange: Still Life, is offered through eleven 5-15 min video sessions. There is also a bonus lesson on Choosing Oil Painting Brushes included to help beginner artists select their supplies.

North End Gallery Guest Artists Exhibit their Work in the 2021 Invitational
North End Gallery hosted a virtual special highlighting the 2021 Invitational featuring an exceptional variety of guest artists' work. The live-streamed event, produced by the Commissioners of Leonardtown & Winson Media, included a virtual tour of the Gallery and Invitational, as well as intimate spotlights on many of the thirty-nine featured artists and their amazing creations. The collection of over eighty unique pieces is astounding from a life-sized sea turtle in welded steel to finely crafted silver necklaces and gold rings. Paintings range from light drenched pastels to color saturated landscape oil and acrylic paintings and rich abstracts. A delicately hand stitched silk wall hanging and colorful fish print batiks to finely crafted wood bowls, sculpture, and a Japanese inspired inlaid wood box reflect the individuality of each artist. Southern Maryland artistry is richly represented in this collection.
